This atypical duo was born from an unlikely meeting at Strasbourg conservatory between the Chilean multi-instrumentalist Diego Manuschevich and the French pianist Matthieu Mazué. What began as informal jam sessions became a working duo before eventually crystallizing into its present form. Several concerts would follow, culminating in a live video recording of their appearance at Jazzdor 2017.
Their collaboration has allowed them to perform, both in duo and quartet form, a great number of their original compositions. This allows them to produce a sound universe that is both powerful and well-rooted in the tradition. It stakes its position by juxtaposing open improvisation and sophisticated writing. It represents its creators ideal world in which both of their highly compatible but differing approaches and personalities can work within a coherent whole.
